My wife and I are being asked to take in a teenage friend of our daughters from school.  She is a nice girl who has apparently been abandoned by her parents and extended family.  She wants to try and finish high school and is already a year behind schedule because she has moved around so much.  I am concerned about what I am not considering that I should be in this decision.  I think she should be able to qualify for medical coverage by a state program or medicare.  This is a year and half commitment at a minimum.  It will be dificult financially to do.  I am not sure if there are legal issues that need to be addressed.  Not sure if there are any other support programs we could look into that might help lessen the financial impact.  Not sure if there is something else one should be concerned about before agreeing to something like this.
